Lead Mechanic Job Description:

Lead Mechanic experience in gas & diesel coordinates and makes sure repairs are completed in a timely manner. Duties of a Lead Mechanic include inspecting work to make sure standards have been met, ordering mechanical parts, using diagnostic equipment, providing support and advice with repairs, conducting road tests, and maintaining repair equipment. Leadership skills, an aptitude toward resolving issues, and a vein for customer service are required.

The Lead Mechanic will indirectly supervise employees in the Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with RAW CUSTOM’S policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning and directing work, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

Lead Mechanic Responsibilities: 

  • Service and maintenance on customers’ cars, trucks, and motorcycle electrical and diagnostic systems.
  • Meet with clients to better understand their concerns and identify issues.
  • Responsible for the service, maintenance, and repair of vehicles and shop equipment.
  • Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records.
  • Monitor inventory and order new parts when necessary.
  • Remain informed of current trends, methods, and regulations in vehicle and equipment repair.
  • Check all repair work performed in the shop for completeness.
  • Direct, instruct and supervise technicians and mechanics; train, coach, mentor and monitor to assure performance.

 

Lead Mechanic Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanic
  • Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components
  • Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers etc.) and precision measurement tools (e.g. calipers)
  • Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instructions, blueprints etc.
  • A solid commitment to all health and safety guidelines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A problem-solving ability
  • Very good physical strength and stamina
  • High school diploma is preferred; Certification from a vocational school or completion of an apprenticeship is a definite plus
  • Valid certification (e.g, ASE) is preferred
